I Knew He'd Be the One

Last week I made my first trip to the hospital as a parent. I alway knew Christopher would be the child that made me go, I just thought it would be because he broke something, not because he was sick. He had a chest cold that turned into a touch of pnemonia and on top of that a stomach bug. The combination gave him fever which made him have a seizure. It gave me a heartattach of course. He was completely out of it after the seizure. He was admitted to the hospital and given tons of antibiotic and of course fluids and tylenol. The next day he was back to his old self and we got to go home. He really liked being waited on in the hospital and I think missed it a little when we got home. The whole thing was very scary but he's fine and that's all that matter.

It's been a while.

Well there isn't a lot of news to report in our house. Everyone has been doing well. We've had a couple of little colds but other than that we're good. The girls have been busy selling girl scout cookies, it has been an experience with two girls selling this year. Christopher feels left out of the selling and is now obsessed with when he'll be old enough to be a boy scout. My newphew Eli has been staying with us a lot lately and Christopher loves having him over, they are just two peas in a pod. Alissa has been enjoying many play dates with her best friend Abril from school. Both of the girls just got their report cards last week. Alissa is right on track or advanced for her age, they don't give real grades, Kristen has straight A's once again. We could not be more proud of them for their hard work.

This weekend Eric helped my cousin put in a garbage disposal. I got to have a nice time chatting and playing with her baby while he worked. Sunday Eric took me out for a date, lunch and a movie. We saw Inkheart. It was pretty good, not as good as I expected but enjoyable.

Alissa's first Christmas program

Alissa had her kindergarten Christmas program at school. She did a great job and sang her little heart out. It was a lot of fun! For the first time we had one of the tall kids so she was standing in the back but we could still see her very well. It just seems the kids keep hitting all kinds of milestones and that makes me happy and proud and even a little sad. The next thing you know she'll be a first grader.

Slumber party

Kristen had a slumber party last night and it went pretty well. We took the girls to a video store and let them pick out some movies. They played charades and giggled and watched movies all night long. The biggest issue we had was the girls being a little loud but that's teenage girls at a slumber party for ya. Kristen had wanted a cat theme for her party so I made cupcakes that I turned into kitty cat faces and they were a hit. Right now Kristen is in her room sleeping since little of that was done at the party last night.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KRISTEN!!!!!a little late

Our Kristen is 13 years old. She's officially a teenager and loves the sound of that. I can tell you she's been acting like one for at least the last two years anyway. She is still in band and orchestra which she enjoys and I see no sign of stopping anytime soon. Hannah Montanna and High School Musical have started to fade away a bit and the Jonas Brothers are the current craze with her and her friends. She has been a strait A studen all this year and we are very proud of her for that! She is still in girl scouts and is on track to earn her silver award by the end of summer. She has grown up so much and it's hard to believe in 5 short years she'll be going off to college and be on her own.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Well it's that time of year again and our little angels had a blast. Eric took them out trick or treating along with my sister Melissa and her son Eli. They did a lot of walking, well kind of wagons were involved but still from our house down past my Dad's and over to Leon and Maries house and back that is a lot! We now have 3 huge bags of candy that will probably last us until Easter when the vicious cycle will start again with Easter candy and then summer parade candy. It's a wonder any of my children have teeth left. Now it's time to start our Christmas shopping which is exciting and scary all at the same time.

IN LOVING MEMORY

Today is the anniversary of my Mother's passing. It feels like it has been much much longer, it has been an emotional year. I never imagined that I would be going through life without the help of my Mom this early in my life. On almost a daily basis I find myself with a question I would have liked to ask her or wondering how she would have done something. I have tried to fill her shoes as much as I can where I can with my children, making birthday cakes and sewing halloween costumes has been difficult but much easier than trying to share her love and wisdom. Anyway I love my Mom and I will always miss her and I wish with all my heart I could do something to bring her back. I love you Mom.
